Tourist Attractions in Ninh Binh

(We can help you to arrange transportation by bike, motorbike or car)

Hang Mua – Dancing cave

Hang Mua has one of the best views in Vietnam and is located only 500 meters from Nguyen Shack. It is a tranquil valley surrounded by rice fields and a hamlet. The cave is about 800 square meters large, and is arranged in the shape of a bell. Hang Mua is modeled after the famous Van Ly Truong Thanh – The Great Wall of China. After climbing up 476 stone steps, tourists can enjoy a panoramic view of the impressive scenery of Tam Coc – “The Terrestrial Halong Bay.”

Trang An

Visit Trang An and take a boat trip to cross the mountains through the cave complex. See Sang Cave, Toi Cave, Ba Giot Cave, Nau Ruou, and more. Trang An is 6 kilometers from Nguyen Shack.

Tam Coc – Bich Dong

Tam Coc – Bich Dong is a very popular tourist destination. Come take in the culture and history here, with a great mix of beautiful natural features, as well as historical monuments such as Thai Vi temple and Bich Dong pagoda. Tam Coc is 6 kilometers from Nguyen Shack.

Van Long Nature Reserve

Van Long Nature Reserve offers wonderful views of Ninh Binh landscapes and rural life. Compared to the much more popular Tam Coc, Van Long is much more primitive and almost completely untouched. Rivers, mountains, grottos, rice paddies, old houses and friendly locals all  make Van Long a must-see for those who truly want to see authentic rural Vietnam. Tourists who visit the reserve get to experience one of the most biodiverse wetlands in Vietnam. The Van Long Nature Reserve is 15 kilometers from Nguyen Shack.

Hoa Lư Ancient Capital

Hoa Lư was the capital of Vietnam in the 10th and 11th centuries. Hoa Lư was the native land of the first two imperial dynasties of Vietnam: the Đinh founded by Đinh Tiên Hoàng, and the Early Lê founded by Lê Đại Hành. Hoa Lư is 11 kilometers from Nguyen Shack.

The New Bai Đính Temple

The New Bai Đính Temple (Bai Đính Tân Tự) encompasses an area of 700 hectares, and is located on the Ba Rau hills, near the Hoang Long River. This is a large complex which includes many structures built over several phases starting in 2003 with work still continuing to this day. The temple is influenced by traditional architecture, consisting of long halls, courtyards and enclosures, but the large scale of Bai Dinh makes it strikingly different from previously built Vietnamese Buddhist pagodas. Ascending a series of over 300 stone steps, visitors pass under an ornamental gate to reach the entrance. The temple itself is located in a series of small caves on the mountainside. Along with Buddhist deities, natural spirits of the mountains are also venerated. The New Bai Đính Temple is 20 kilometers from Nguyen Shack.

Thung Nham Bird Park

IMG_6106 IMG_6197Located deep in the mountains and far from residential areas, Thung Nham is known to be home to many migratory birds. Besides birdwatching, you can also explore the numerous caves in the area.

Cuc Phuong National Park

Cuc Phuong National Park is located on the border of three provinces of Ninh Binh, Hoa Binh and Thanh Hoa. Cuc Phuong National Park is surrounded by several limestone cliffs, the highest being May Bac, which means “silver cloud peak.” The park is conveniently located on the route to several tourist attractions, including Bai Đính, Bich Dong Pagoda and Hoa Lu. It was officially opened in 1962 as the first national park in Vietnam. Cuc Phuong National Park is 45 kilometers from Nguyen Shack.
