Phong Nha Khe Bang National Park has a lot of cave exploration and trekking adventures to offer. A few activities are possible to do by yourself, including Phong Nha Cave, Paradise Cave, Dark Cave, Mooc Spring Eco Trail or Botanical Garden. If you don’t drive a motorbike and you want to visit safely by car with a tour guide you can book the Classic National Park tour or the Jungle Boss National Park tour. These tours are nice, but can be very touristy. If you want something more adventurous and off the beaten path we suggest you choose a tour from the following list.
Phong Nha Cave’s Mysterious Depths – 1 day: 1,700,000 vnd
This was the first cave in the area to be opened to the public. It was used for shelter, as storage, and as a hospital during the American War. It is well worth a visit, especially for the journey up the river and into the cave aboard a traditional Dragon Boat. If you feel more adventurous you can also go deeper into the cave and discover 4.5km of the Phong Nha Cave by kayak. More info
Paradise Cave 7km Adventure – 1 day: 2,500,000 vnd
This stunning cave is perhaps the most beautiful one that you can visit independently. Paradise Cave is the largest dry cave in the world. The first 1km can be seen by anybody, either on a tour or by visiting the cave by yourself. For a longer adventure you can do the 7km trek into the cave is only available as a guided tour. More info
Tra Ang Cave & Ma Da Valley – 1 day: 1,650,000 vnd – 2 days: 4,500,000 vnd
The Ma Da Valley was opened to tourism in August 2016. This new area of the world heritage Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park includes the Tra Ang cave and Ma Da Lake. The tour is 8km of trekking in the jungle of Ma Da Valley, and exploring the Vietnamese tropical forest. This tour is a great opportunity to get into the jungle without taking on a major expedition in an area where few tourists have been before. The Abandoned Valley – 1 day: 1,650,000 vnd – 2 days: 4,700,000 vnd
The Abandoned Valley trek in a remote area of the world heritage Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park is traversed by part of the famous Ho Chi Minh trail. This tour includes hiking 12km of the Ho Chi Minh trail, exploring the Vietnamese tropical forest and learning about the history of the Vietnam-American war as you trek along the narrow track. Explore the other exit of the now famous Dark Cave, and enjoy the unspoiled Hang E where you can swim in a crystal clear natural spring. Hang E is one of the most beautiful river caves in the Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park. Enjoy a barbecue lunch in the jungle prepared by your guides. Hang Tien – 1 day: 2,000,000 VND – 2 days: 6,500,000 VND – 3 days: 8,500,000 VND
As the largest cave in Tu Lan cave system, Hang Tien is famed for its enormous size and spectacular formations rising up like a layer cake of rimstone pools and lush ferns. This cave is truly a unique specimen. The Hang Tien Discovery is fitting for both adventurers and those with limited outdoor experience.
Hang En – 2 days: 7,500,000 VND
The third largest cave in the world, Hang En is close to Hang Son Doong (the world’s largest cave) and is part of the same cave system. The huge cavern, with it’s river and lake, is spectacular, especially if you’re able to catch sun rays streaming through the entrance. To see this cave involves a day trek through beautiful jungles and valleys, and a minority village. After time spent exploring the cave you will stay overnight in a tent on a sandy beach in the cave and trek back the next day.
Hang Va expedition – 2 days: 8,000,000 VND
This spectacular cave has unique formations that were previously unknown in the caving world. There is still speculation about how they were formed. This newly opened cave is one for the adventurers and can be seen on a 1-night, 2-day Hang Va expedition.
